The Challenge

How could we offer an effective and simple way to search through ten different reference books, plus the videos, pictures, sounds, and tables in this giant interactive encyclopedia?

The Result

This simple checkbox interface allowed the user to select any combination of books and media types to search through. Then she could enter a keyword or keywords, using a Boolean pick list to focus the search if desired. This interface worked quite well, even for less sophisticated users. We also included several ways for people to browse in the product.
